SummaryEdit

Ah, yet another song by EnderfireTAD! This one is entirely a rap, no singing involved. (as I can't sing! uwu)

Some days my inner demons are my best friends.

And though I'd follow my besties to the bitter end,

When the going gets rough,

The voices in my head get me tough

And tell me not to cry.

And though I cannot fly,

I can fight.

I'm a strange one,

A weird one,

The fearing-and-the-feared one.

I'm scared of the ones that I terrify.

I'll verify -

The things that scare me most are the ones that I scare back.

The qualities I love are the ones I feel I lack -

But that's just society, isn't it?

We're never good enough till we prove it,

With tangible items, not the qualities inside.

Late at night I take these things and let my brain go for a ride.

Some days my inner demons are my best friends.

And though I'd follow my besties to the bitter end,

When the going gets rough,

The voices in my head get me tough

And tell me not to cry.

And though I cannot fly,

I can fight.

I live almost entirely in my head.

My biggest conversations are with myself in my bed.

No one ever hears them, but do I sound like I care?

Cuz sharing a second of imagination would change my thoughts beyond compare.

I've given away self-consciousness and been strengthened by fear.

Now I finally see it and it becomes fully clear.

Sometimes our inner terrors are there to keep us safe,

By letting us know what nightmares we must overcome to face.

Some days my inner demons are my best friends.

And though I'd follow my besties to the bitter end,

When the going gets rough,

The voices in my head get me tough

And tell me not to cry.

And though I cannot fly,

I can fight.

Thank you to the darkness for strengthening my light.

Thank you to my enemies for preparing me to fight.

Thank you to the haters for helping my resolve,

And thank you to the night terrors that helped me to evolve.

What's the point you ask?

That's easy to explain.

The point is that these things are what strengthened me against the acid rain.

They didn't give me an umbrella to block myself, to shield.

They gave me the powers to take the damage and then heal.

They gave me the eyes to see the lies from the real.

Thank you to the family that helped me through the hard.

Thank you to the friends that saved me from the shards.

Thank you to the teachers who taught me how to hold my ground,

And thank you to my idols for letting me know your sound.

These are the ones who I truly thank.

The ones who filled me when I was on my last tank.

The ones who let me know that there are those who care.

The ones that let me know that my rhythm could be there.

Some days my inner demons are my best friends.

And though I'd follow my besties to the bitter end,

When the going gets rough,

The voices in my head get me tough

And tell me not to cry.

And though I cannot fly,

I can fight.

I can love.

I can live.

I can write.

I can rap.

I can sing.

I can be.

I am me.
