another poem written for my school poetry unit, it got into this poetry showings thing :OO
meant to be perfomed live so there are some notes leftover which I decided to keep in here

“individuality” (air quotes with hands, quoting somebody else saying it)

Wow, look at me! Do you see

How unique,

different,

special I am? (performed with a saracastically happy tone)

What a sham

Standing on your moral high ground

You’re a hypocrite, can you please sit down? (emphasis (higher tone) on crite and sit to note the rhyme, lower tone on down but still emphasising to note rhyme with ground)

All that stuff’s what they preach (emphasise stuff, preach)

but when when we reach (emphasise but, reach)

the point of somebody or their interests

actually being different

It turns to weird,

or strange

Although that’s in the nicer range

Soon it devolves to outcast,

loser,

disgust

Slowly but surely abandoned at lunch

And finally it’s delusional,

freak,

insane (slowly getting louder/more intense for above to here)

Stop fooling your brain

into thinking you would actually be okay with someone truly different

Because you wouldn’t be (rhyming ends to show finality and the fact that this statement is different than others)
