Amara North is the Vale branch leader of the Moonlighters (see Trivia) and a graduate of Shade Academy. She is a character in Ash Winters' FanFiction, DMNT in the Rough. Her weapon of choice is a Multi-Shot Rifle Blade called Vixen's Kiss. During her time at Shade, Amara led Team ARSK (arsenic), comprised of herself, Manuka Roumen, Nereus Suijin and Kelly Hunter.

She first appears as a deuteragonist in the chapter Prelude 1: Diopside, where she and Dell Ibenholt raid a Schnee Dust Company freight train to gain Dust and weapons for the Moonlighters.

Appearance[]

Amara stands at 5ft 11in tall and is an attractive young woman with pink eyes and long, wavy light red hair, dyed reddish-purple at the tips. She has tanned skin, reflecting her time in the deserts of Vacuo. Her Faunus trait is a bushy fox tail with the same colouration as her hair. Amara also has her emblem tattooed in light red on her right shoulder and the Moonlighters emblem on her left, following the tradition for the members, in light grey with a light red interior.

Casual Outfit[]

Amara wears a pink T-shirt with light red sleeves over detached elbow-length pink sleeves, a pair of dark brown baggy trousers and pink boots with purple laces & soles. She also sports a red coat with purple accents on occasion. Amara's emblem is printed on the back of her jacket in purple. 

Combat Outfit[]

Amara's combat outfit is the same as her casual attire, only trading her coat for red armour with purple accents on her torso and arms. Her emblem is printed on the chest armour in purple.

Personality[]

Amara is generally upbeat and mischievous, though she can be serious when the situation calls for it, such as in combat. She is also seen reassuring Dell on their mission together, implying a caring side.

 Powers, Abilities and Equipment[]

Amara is shown to have above-average strength, speed and endurance, as she was able to assist in destroying a train car full of Atlesian Knights, as well as an Atlesian Paladin 290. She is also well-trained in swordplay and marksmanship, lending to her signature weapon. Amara is also fairly well-versed in hand-to-hand combat, though, given the option, she would prefer using her sword in melee.

Amara's Faunus heritage grants her night vision and a tail that she can use as a fifth limb.

Leadership[]

Amara is a natural leader and is quick to absorb information, assess situations and come up with new plans if a previous one does not work. Her analytical mind is one of Amara's greatest assets in combat, allowing her to alter strategies to counter her opponents. She also has a firm understanding of her allies' capabilities and can use that knowledge to coordinate them into an advantageous position in an encounter and assign them appropriate missions.

Aura[]

Like most active fighters, Amara had her Aura unlocked before attending her chosen Academy, granting her increased resistance to damage and temperature extremes, as well as a form of extra-sensory perception. This also enables her to use Dust and her Semblance. Aura can also be channelled through weapons to increase their durability and offensive capabilities. Amara's Aura is reddish-purple. 

Semblance[]

Amara's Semblance, Jiuweihu, allows her to slow down her perception of time, such that, to her, everything is in slow-motion. This allows Amara to line up her next strikes or dodge incoming attacks. This can last between 10 and 80 seconds, during which time, Amara appears to move at superhuman speeds to observers. She also appears to manifest additional glowing Aural tails; the number depends on how slow her perception of time is. Due to this being a primarily sensory enhancement, Amara cannot combine Dust with her Semblance.

Weapons[]

Amara's weapon, Vixen's Kiss, is a longsword which can transform into a select-fire rifle that can cycle between single-shot, 3-round burst and fully automatic firing, depending on how far the trigger is pulled in. Amara is skilled in Five-to-One swordsmanship, using the Staring Tiger, Lunging Serpent, Idle Turtle, Raging Bull and Azure Dragon stances. The rifle form can use standard and Dust rounds, as outlined below.

Weaknesses[]

  • Semblance Limits: Time limitation; Aura drains quickly when used; causes intense bodily fatigue after prolonged use (sore muscles, slowed reactions, drowsiness etc.).
  • Sensory Overload: Due to her Faunus heritage granting her night vision, Amara is more sensitive to bright lights than most other people.

Trivia[]

  • Name References: Amara North (derived from amaranth, a type of plant found in shades of red, pink and purple) 
  • Inspiration: The Fox (The Wolf and the Fox)- Fox Faunus, first seen alongside a 'wolf' character. 
  • Amaranthus caudatus, a type of flower in the amaranth genus, can also be called foxtail amaranth, further alluding to her character inspiration and Faunus base & trait. 
  • Amara's Semblance name, Jiuweihu (written as 九尾狐), is Chinese for 'nine-tailed fox', alluding to her Semblance creating additional tails to a maximum total of 9. 
  • The Moonlighters are an international guild of Hunters who offer their services to people who require less reputable tasks to be done to achieve an objective at a reduced cost to most other Hunters.
